What Our Journal Will Cover

The Bucks County New Politics Journal divides its coverage into three primary areas, described below.

In this section we will focus on local, state, and national policy questions with particular emphasis on ways and means (taxes!), school funding and educational vouchers, the environment and open space, violence in the community, economic growth, commercial and residential development, and social services to various groups of citizens.

The Journal will also provide a channel for voices contending in Bucks County politics, a channel to reach the computers of local residents. Grass-roots organizations, political parties or candidates, citizens, and political action committees may submit thought-provoking pieces for possible publication. (The Journal reserves full editorial control over what it publishes.) Submissions may be sent to the Journal's office by mail or through the Internet (e-mail to community_voices@buckspolitics.org).

This section will provide an electoral map of Bucks County and feature in-depth interviews with local candidates and political officials. The electoral map will display the geographic boundaries of election districts and polling locations; this includes ten Pennsylvania Assembly Districts (18, 31, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 152, and 178). Also covered this fall will be three state-wide races (Treasurer, Auditor General, and Attorney General), a Congressional election (8th District), and the Presidential election. By clicking on hotspots on the electoral map, the reader can find basic background information about each of the candidates, including name, party, campaign headquarter address and telephone, and brief biographical and policy information. (Click here for a list of candidates.)

The featured interview will offer the text of a lively discussion conducted by Journal Political Editor Loren Danzis with some relevant political figure or candidates. Mr. Danzis will question these individuals about their principles and practices on various political issues, exposing the ideological, personal and intellectual basis for their beliefs. (E-mail may be sent to Mr. Danzis at ldanzis@buckspolitics.org.)
